Menjelang musim liburan Natal dan tahun baru, Twenty One Pilots merilis single original terbaru mereka berjudul Christmas Saves The Year pada Rabu (09/12/2020).
Melalui unggahanya di media sosial, duo asal Ohio, Amerika Serikat, itu mengumumkan bahwa lagu baru tersebut ditulis dan direkam di rumah sang vokalis, Tyler Joseph, karena pembatasan selama karantina.
“Sebuah lagu Natal original dari Twenty One Pilots yang ditulis dan direkam di home studio milik Tyler. Dari kami untuk kalian, selamat Natal,” tulis grup beranggotakan Tyler Joseph dan Josh Dun itu melalui akun Twitter sambil mengunggah potongan lagu terbaru mereka.
Melalui lagu ini Tyler dan Josh ingin menyebarkan optimisme tentang bagaimana Natal dapat mengobati keterpurukan di tengah masa sulit pandemi.
Meski dunia sedang runtuh, setiap orang tetap ingin pulang ke rumah untuk merayakan Natal, karena dengan merayakannya bersama keluarga akan membuat tahun ini terasa lebih baik.
Begitulah kira-kira pesan yang ingin disampaikan Twenty One Pilots melalui lirik yang berbunyi demikian. “Cause everybody wants to makе it home this year. Even if thе world is crumblin' down. Christmas Saves The Year merupakan lagu kedua yang dirilis oleh Twenty One Pilots sepanjang 2020, setelah sebelumnya merilis Level of Concern pada April.
